February 2022 Gifted Gorgeousness

Happy February everyone! My life is always on the go so it's once again bit a little since my last post πŸ˜†

I hope everyone has had a great start to the year and I can't believe February is basically done! With that being said,  it is time for Jo's February Gifted Gorgeousness Link-up and I'm able to participate this month!

First up is the one I am most proud of. My fully finished Magic Kingdom SAL that I gifted to my daughter for her 6th birthday!

"Magic Kingdom SAL" - Cunning Cross Stitch FINISHED!

I cannot thank my Grandmother enough for helping me to finish this as a wall hanging! I absolutely love how it came out! My only request is to please ignore the wrinkles that my 2 year old personally added right before I hung it up.... I took the picture before I had fixed it and forgot to retake it 😝 This is hung above her bed next to a Disney Princess canvas piece that my Dad gave her for Christmas with a phrase that is so perfect for her.

Since I finished that piece, I started working again on the Olde World Map that is intended to be a gift for my Mom & Stepdad.

Currently:

July 2021:
As you can see, I made a decent amount of progress on it. I hadn't touched this one since July and picked it back up again last week. The only thing left in this quadrant now is to finish the one color left for the outside border. This is by far my oldest piece that I keep taking huge breaks on and the border is one of the main reasons why so hopefully I can fight through it.

My next GG entries are all mini block builds that I have finished. This first one was a gift for my birthday back in September. I had finished it back then but apparently forgot to post about it. It is a space shuttle launch site that was made up of 510 pieces. This had a couple significant meanings behind it. 1) we live about 30-45 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center and one of my favorite dates with my husband from before we were married was to go see a shuttle launch there and 2) when my daughter was in the hospital, one of the ways we motivated her to push through all the tests and therapies was by taking her for strolls in her wheelchair to areas of the hospital with good views for a few of the Space X launches from the Space Center. To this day, she still gets very excited for every launch and we have an amazing view of them from our house so always run out to watch them.

"Space Center" - Nanoblock FINISHED!

The next building set was a gift from my Dad for Christmas. He knows I love dragons so he found me a 600 piece set. I finished this one in January.

"Animal Deluxe - Dragon" - Nanoblock FINISHED!

Next, I have been working had to be healthier overall and walk more and there's an app/program tied to my health insurance that gives you points for doing various healthy habits. I earned enough points to claim a large amount of Amazon gift cards and one of the things I got for myself with them was a 1,163 piece Maneki Neko (or Lucky Cat) set. If you'd like to learn more about the meaning behind Maneki Neko, this page is pretty informative!

"Fortune Cat" - Larcele FINISHED!

I also worked on another Dragon Ball Z character for my husband. This time it was Trunks, who is one of his favorite characters and I just discovered that there was a version of him available! He was 110 pieces and came out really cute. I especially liked the little sword attached to his back.

"Trunks" - Nanoblock FINISHED!

And last but not least, a coworker who likes to watch me do all my crafts decided she wanted to try to do a gingerbread house set that she saw. She thought it would be regular sized Lego pieces but they ended up being mini sized and she became very frustrated and said she was going to throw out the set. I asked her if she wanted me to put it together for her instead. So I gifted my mini block building skills and time. It was actually a pretty challenging 788 piece set to put together that took me about 6 hours to finish. It was a very detail oriented set.

"Gingerbread House" - HMANE FINISHED!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I look forward to checking out all of the other GG entries!

Happy Stitching!

Summer Updates & Finish Friday 8/20/21

Hello, All!

It has been a while and it has been a busy time like always!

First, we celebrated my Grandmother's birthday by baking her a cake. My daughter said it had to be red because that is her favorite color, it had to be heart shaped because she loves her Grammy, it had to have pink icing because that's a shade of red, and it had to have rainbow sprinkles because Grammy loves all the colors. It was very thought out! I had to work that night so I woke up early to bake the cake with my daughter and then I video called after my husband picked up my Grandmother to participate in singing "Happy Birthday!"

The next big thing we did was throw an End of Summer Party for the kids and our friends and family right before school started! There were water toys, pizza, snocones, cookies, and a snow ball fight! They had a blast and it was such a blessing to be able to see our daughter get to finally play with other little kids and be silly!

After everyone went home that day, we set up our own little outdoor movie and fire pit to roast marshmallows and make smores! Our daughter said it was the best day ever!

We got a new couch which the kids are still very excited about. I find this absolutely hilarious!

We stayed a couple nights at the Shades of Green Resort on Disney Property with my in-laws. My daughter and our niece were able to get Princess make-overs and had a blast! Unfortunately, our son was too young to get the Pirate make-over.

And finally, our daughter started Kindergarten! 😲 Starting school has been such a nerve wracking experience for all of us, especially with our daughter's medical history and the recent surge of Covid cases. So far, she has done amazing and is having fun for the most part! Today was day 9 (they started last Tuesday) and she is so ready for the weekend!

Oh! I also finished my Summer Semester with flying colors, thankfully! And now the Fall Semester will be starting this next week... this will be the true test! I'll be adding 3 courses on top of our already crazy family life and work schedules! My goal is to be finished with school by the end of Summer 2023, so I really have to push myself to stay on top of everything!

Now I know this has already been a long post but I have a mini block finish to share as well!

Rikuzo Pirate Ship mini block set FINISHED!

This is the Rikuzo Pirate Ship mini block set. It was 780 pieces and took me about 8 hours to do. I did mess up a couple times and have to take a few sections apart to fix teeny mistakes but overall it was fun to put together. If you've followed me enough to know that the sets I've been working on have all tied to places I've visited or are of my husband's favorite anime characters, this one may seem a bit odd. However, it actually fits into my "had visited" criteria! I have actually be on not 1 but 2 different pirate ships! The first one was a pirate ship that was docked in St. Augustine several years ago (I couldn't find a picture of it in my photos). The second was a stylized pirate ship ferry boat called the Vasa in Japan on Lake Ashi in Hakone!

The Vasa "at sea" on Lake Ashi, Hakone - from the website

On our way to board the Vasa

Hubby & Daughter saying "Arrr" next to the resident pirate on the Vasa

If you've made it this far in my post, thank you! I hope you all have had a great summer! I know we did!

Happy Friday!

July Gifted Gorgeousness!

Are we really almost through July already!?!?!?!?!? I swear the months and years are getting shorter and shorter!

Gifted Gorgeousness is hosted on Jo's page, so make sure you head over there to see the other participants if you haven't already!

First up, I have been working on the map for my parents again here and there and feel like I've made quite a bit of progress!

Currently:

March 2021:

I didn't realize how much I had added until I found the last time I had posted about it. Since March the tree, bushes, grass, water/cloud ripples, sun, ship, and more of the border have either been finished or made appearances! I did find about 3 counting mistakes in the ship area from a previous time I had stitched on this piece, so I had to fix those but otherwise, it was smooth sailing! I believe its just the ship and border left for this section and then I can finally move on to the bottom right quadrant and then deal with all the backstitching after that!

Next, I have some more mini block Dragon Ball Z characters that I put together for my husband!

Nanoblocks Piccolo & Master Roshi sets FINISHED!

Nanoblocks Goku & Raditz sets FINISHED!

My husband has been enjoying receiving these little characters from his favorite anime but he is always so afraid to touch them because he inevitably breaks something off of them and brings them to me to fix! He now has all the currently available sets and the next one is scheduled to be released in August, I believe.

That's all I have for now! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stitching!

June Gifted Gorgeousness

Hello All!

I actually have a small stitching update and a couple mini building block finishes!

I realized that I missed May's Gifted Gorgeousness link up and then that I have almost missed this month's, so I figured that I should put a post together!

First up, is the Blackwork Square SAL that I'm working on for my husband and me. I am super behind on this one since each box is supposed to represent 1 week of the year but I did work a tiny bit on it.

Currently:

Last GG post:

Second is the Magic Kingdom SAL for my daughter. I've managed to stay up to date on this one but I am not finished with June's portion yet, which is the Princess and the Frog.

Currently:

Last GG post:

Between the Lion King and the Princess and the Frog is the Beauty and the Beast portion but I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing out of the hoop.

Lastly, I also found a few nano block versions of characters from my husband's favorite anime: Dragon Ball Z. I ordered 4 different characters but have only received 2 so far and have made them. As I finish them, I will give them to him to add to his collection of DBZ stuff.

The first is Gohan. He was 110 pieces and took about 40 minutes to put together. The second is Vegeta. He was 130 pieces and also took about 40 minutes to put together.

Nanoblock Gohan & Vegeta sets FINISHED!

I think they are both cute and they are smaller than I thought they would be. For reference, Gohan and Vegeta are about 1.5 and 2 cross stitch needles tall, respectively. Hopefully the hubby likes them!

That's all I have for now! Hop on over to Jo's link up post to see the rest if you haven't already!

Happy Stitching!

Finish Friday 6/18/21

 Good afternoon everyone!

I should preface this post by stating that I promise that I will get back to cross stitching soon but this is yet again another building block finish post πŸ˜†

In fact I have 2 set finishes!

The first is a Japanese Skyline that I worked on on Saturday and Monday. It was a total of 1350 nano building blocks and took me a total of 11.5 hours!

Japan Skyline Architecture Set FINISHED!

This was really fun to do and it allowed me to reminisce about our trip in 2019 because we saw or went to all of the landmarks shown! From left to right it includes: Osaka Castle, Mount Fuji, Sensoji Temple, the Shinkansen (bullet train), Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and the Rainbow Bridge!

Here are a few pictures that I took of some of the landmarks on the set:

Osaka Castle

Mount Fuji and Chureito Pagoda

Tokyo Skytree

The second set I started and finished today was a Sembo Block Cherry Blossom Tree kit. Sembo Blocks are basically regular lego type blocks. I was expecting this to be a mini block set but it was still fun to do. Although I did manage to lose a piece, take forever to find it, then "lose" another piece, only to realize that I had used it in the wrong place by accident.....an hour later..... This set was 1103 pieces and took me about 8 hours to finish.

Sembo Blocks Sakura Tree Set FINISHED!

So this may or may not be the last set for a little bit. I'm not sure yet πŸ˜…

I hope everyone has been having a good day!

Happy Friday!
