WIP Wednesday 6/30/21

Happy Wednesday, All!

I just wanted to share my tiny bit of WIP for today. I took a break from focusing on school work today and decided to spend time stitching instead. Since it's the last day of June, I really wanted to finish the Princess and the Frog section of the Magic Kingdom SAL before the next section is announced for July!

I must say that after dreading the 36 French knots, I finished June!

now:

last time:

It's a little hard to see the backstitched star in the middle of the heart so I am debating if I want to redo that with more than 2 strands. Otherwise, I liked how this section was really different from the others so far with the color palette. I can't wait to see what the next featured movie will be and where it will go and fit in next!

Happy Stitching!

June Gifted Gorgeousness

Hello All!

I actually have a small stitching update and a couple mini building block finishes!

I realized that I missed May's Gifted Gorgeousness link up and then that I have almost missed this month's, so I figured that I should put a post together!

First up, is the Blackwork Square SAL that I'm working on for my husband and me. I am super behind on this one since each box is supposed to represent 1 week of the year but I did work a tiny bit on it.

Currently:

Last GG post:

Second is the Magic Kingdom SAL for my daughter. I've managed to stay up to date on this one but I am not finished with June's portion yet, which is the Princess and the Frog.

Currently:

Last GG post:

Between the Lion King and the Princess and the Frog is the Beauty and the Beast portion but I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing out of the hoop.

Lastly, I also found a few nano block versions of characters from my husband's favorite anime: Dragon Ball Z. I ordered 4 different characters but have only received 2 so far and have made them. As I finish them, I will give them to him to add to his collection of DBZ stuff.

The first is Gohan. He was 110 pieces and took about 40 minutes to put together. The second is Vegeta. He was 130 pieces and also took about 40 minutes to put together.

Nanoblock Gohan & Vegeta sets FINISHED!

I think they are both cute and they are smaller than I thought they would be. For reference, Gohan and Vegeta are about 1.5 and 2 cross stitch needles tall, respectively. Hopefully the hubby likes them!

That's all I have for now! Hop on over to Jo's link up post to see the rest if you haven't already!

Happy Stitching!

Finish Friday 6/18/21

 Good afternoon everyone!

I should preface this post by stating that I promise that I will get back to cross stitching soon but this is yet again another building block finish post 😆

In fact I have 2 set finishes!

The first is a Japanese Skyline that I worked on on Saturday and Monday. It was a total of 1350 nano building blocks and took me a total of 11.5 hours!

Japan Skyline Architecture Set FINISHED!

This was really fun to do and it allowed me to reminisce about our trip in 2019 because we saw or went to all of the landmarks shown! From left to right it includes: Osaka Castle, Mount Fuji, Sensoji Temple, the Shinkansen (bullet train), Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and the Rainbow Bridge!

Here are a few pictures that I took of some of the landmarks on the set:

Osaka Castle

Mount Fuji and Chureito Pagoda

Tokyo Skytree

The second set I started and finished today was a Sembo Block Cherry Blossom Tree kit. Sembo Blocks are basically regular lego type blocks. I was expecting this to be a mini block set but it was still fun to do. Although I did manage to lose a piece, take forever to find it, then "lose" another piece, only to realize that I had used it in the wrong place by accident.....an hour later..... This set was 1103 pieces and took me about 8 hours to finish.

Sembo Blocks Sakura Tree Set FINISHED!

So this may or may not be the last set for a little bit. I'm not sure yet 😅

I hope everyone has been having a good day!

Happy Friday!

Finish Friday 6/11/21

Good morning!

I have yet another mini building block set to finish but this time it's my daughter's that I helped her with! I honestly completely forgot that we even bought this in Puerto Rico for her until she asked when we were going to put it together. So instead of working on her cross stitch while her brother took his nap the other day, we worked on her 153 piece coqui set!

Coquí Frog Mini Building Blocks FINISHED!

A coqui (pronounced co-kee) is a very tiny tree frog that is found all over the island of Puerto Rico. They are named after the loud sound of the male's mating song at night! They can vary in colors from brown, green, yellow, and gray (or a mix of the four colors) on top and either yellow or white on their bellies. Another fascinating tidbit about coqui is that if you remove one from the island, it will completely stop singing.

This set was a little hard for my daughter to put together but with my help it took about an hour and she had a lot of fun doing it! Here are the progress pics of us working on it:

my daughter said he was trying to eat the leaf while we were making it

my daughter very happy and proud to have finished the coqui!

p.s. I couldn't figure out what was bothering me about this last picture until I realized about an hour later that my daughter had put her dress on backwards 🙈

Happy Friday from my daughter and me!

Finish Friday 6/4/21

Good morning!

This Finish Friday will feature another mini building block set! It is a model of another Puerto Rican historical and national park site: the Yokahú Observation Tower in El Yunque Rainforest! This set was a total of 506 pieces, believe it or not!

Yohakú Tower Mini Building Blocks FINISHED!

As with El Morro, this set was pretty accurate to the real thing! Here is the photo I took of the tower while we were there:

This one was way easier to put together and only took me about 2 hours to finish. I'm glad that I went looking for the Morro set online to show someone at work what I had bought (before I had put it together) and stumbled upon the website that had several national sites as mini block sets and this was one! I immediately ordered it and am glad I did!

Here are some other photos of the different layers that make up the whole tower:

One of my goals in life is to visit all 50 states and see various national monuments. I now have a new, coinciding goal that if I visit somewhere that has a model replica set available, I want to build it when I get home! I think that would be something fun to do!

Happy Friday everyone and have a great day!

WIP Wed....Thursday! 6/3/21

 Hello All!

I had every intention on posting what little stitching I've been able to do yesterday but between work and dealing with kids once I got home, I completely forgot! 😆 So today will be Work In Progress Thursday!

Of my own WIP, I worked on and finished May's Beauty and the Beast installment for the Magic Kingdom SAL from Cunning Cross Stitch

It didn't take long to stitch up at all, which was very nice! So far my 2 favorite movies have now been stitched (Snow White & Beauty and the Beast) but I honestly don't think there's a Disney movie that I don't like! June's pattern has been put out and I hope to start the Princess and the Frog soon!

The other piece I've worked on isn't actually mine but my daughter's! My daughter asked me a couple weeks ago to teach her how to cross stitch so we sat down and ordered a kit with a bunch of little designs for her to pick from. She has chosen to start a mermaid!

She has done really well so far! We only do a tiny bit at a time, usually during her brother's nap time so that I can focus completely on helping her with it but we have done 2 lines of hair, her eyes, mouth, bikini top, and started on the tail!

That's all I have for today! Happy Stitching!
